New Travel

The call continues, to flex, to stretch,
inside tendons pull, hold needing movement, no
place of settled knowledge.

Australia was a new land for me, the physical
journey long,  the emotional, the spiritual continue.

What was the highlight in a minute or ?

I seek,

a truth full answer.

travel, where will it take me?

Always travelling,
sometimes it includes
new lands.

Home

Today is Tuesday November 17

Yesterday Peter sent me some snippets of "Australiana",  as I was headed back to Canada.  One of them was this country song

speaks to my experience of life in this moment.

What a country mile or two I have walked,  and now that I am back home in Ontario,  being, observing, noticing I am as,  I wonder where will the next mile take me?

Homeward Bound I

Virgin flight 750 to Melbourne has boarded,
kisses have been thrown and blown, rainforest visited,
stories, laughter,  times of awareness, and not, shared.

Inspiration offered Gangaji, Eli, Richard Rohr,
ideas exchanged,  what now,
be,  as always the instruction Be

Shared journeys, comfort in being seen, recognized.

" you will be different when you return"
" it will change you"

" I wonder how, now"

One night more in Australia, a sleep, short, in an airport hotel,
until Los Angeles, and Toronto welcome me home,

from noticing wallaby, blue, almost turquoise bird, unindentified as yet,
palms, dolphins, lizards ( called by many names) eucalyptus over 500 types,
koalas who only like 6 types, kangaroo, flowers bright blooms on trees, shrubs, bushes,
tiny stemmed, and birds, king parrots, pigeons, fairy blue wren, cockatoo,  magpies,
mistletoe bird to name a few, the southern cross.

welcome me home to continued noticing,
 me, you,
all

Integrated being
Prescence
Now.

Homeward bound II

Sun rise shadowed by hotel blinds,
keeping reflections of homelands, mine,
others            muted.

my journey so personal, so blessed, in the
midst of world news,  an election offered hope,
fear continues to divide,  deaths,  a university in Niarobi,
lives
filled with hope, like mine,
destroyed,
found walking, climbing on boats,
seeking, longing,
for
home.

I am in the airport,  preparing to flyhome,
from homes abroad,  from safety to safety,
love to love.

Blessed and blessing all,

energetic offerings visioning home,
security, love for all

filled with deep gratitude.

Happy birth day to me

Thirty five years ago,
a gift came to earth.
I gave her birth, sacred honour.

Green Caldron

On the edge, sitting, standing, watching,
for wallabys,  while cockatoo's broad wings, yellow
flared cocks, fly in and out of my vision,

Where are the wallabys?

Watching, waiting.

Sitting on the edge in sacred
space created
Inhabited
shared,

gifted to me

Now.

See wonder

King parrots, cockatoo's, kookaburra,
my day begins,  Squishy and Bambi offer me
a tail wagging greeting, my home on the edge
of the green cauldron,  Peter casually asks,
do you have snakes?  We'll have to find some
for you to see, red belly black, brown, green tree,
we had a brown carpet snake, python, on the step,
they get in the roof to eat the mice...
yes,  walk in the grass, and watch
you could see
wallabies hop by the back door, black, or brown
one has a joey.

Astral Cafe date scone with jam, cream
tea in pot, cup and saucer,
yellow arborite table tops, blue
booths, padded,  milk shake of the week,
fruit salad, pies savoury here, breads, cakes,
muffins iced under clear cake cover
with bird handles, like the ones
my mother had

"I wonder, " she says in skype conversation , " will you notice as much when you are home?

Opening

Path, bumpy, well trodden,
not really,  sunlight shadowed by
clouds by old growth forests,
 past constructions zones,  big
distracting equipment,  interesting only
to a small child, often male, cross high water,
darting waves, unpredictable dips, shorelines.
gentle breeze brushes body, soul,
sunshine, blue skies,
distant clouds, horizons
becon.

Sydney

Kookuburra watch me, from palm, gum and fern,
wandering, from opera house and harbour bridge
to Mrs. Mcquarrie's seat, hued from rock,
past weddings,  navy ships,
sail boats,
tourist ferries and cruise ships, a plenty.

St. Mary's Cathedral standing, with gov't buildings,
the colonial story present.
50 years since the freedom ride,  commemorated at the state
library,  Aborigine history still not taught in schools, the history teacher
viewing the show beside me whispers,
her voice so soft I strain to hear.

Connected through shared, history, shame
cockatoo's cry over head
returning again and again, to blooms, statue, waterfront,
majestic trees, resting places, magnolia,  jacanda blooms.
history.

His sandwich board worn  in the busy intersection
at rush hour,( behind me I hear, his life work),
smile, you can do it, a big happy face, cars toot, slow,
the other side go Michelle Payne, sexism no more,
isms no more.
He smiles and waves.

Happy Birthday

She would have been sixty one. ( on earth),
If she had stayed just six more months.

In flight, from Melbourne to
Sydney, (her birthday flight)
reflected in the clouds,
decending  sky, ascending earth,
purple tree delight,
koala, dolphins, birdsong, sand in
toes, pen in hand.

Present. Alive.

My birthday gift to her, to me,
by her request.

Spring in Australia

Sunrise beauty, midst clouds,  rain welcome,
come,  surround sound, bird song
bunnies hopping, white tails bobbing,
kangaroo paws delicate bloom, red,
yellow, green, dolphins welcome on the shore

cbc check for news from home,
a public swearing in at Rideau hall,
fifteen female cabinet ministers,
it IS 2015.

skype calls with beloveds

a cup of tea while showers fall,
mango , strawberries, fresh in season,
a parrot on the deck,
brilliant red, yellow, green, as cockatoo's
fly by.

What do you call a miracle?

Safety Rules

Don't touch, just look, don't touch,
out of the surf, come out,  you'll get all sandy here,

I said " Don't touch". "It gives a nasty bit"

Stay back, go play, have fun,
be careful now, run, not so far,

I said " slow down , stay near"

Explore, go play, be curious,
no, not there, with them

I said, "be careful, can't you hear"

Stop eating dirt, leave the shells, the
feathers carry germs,

Here's sanitizer,
let me sanitize

you,

Southerly

The winds come from the south cool breezes,
from north warmth,  the world
turns, the southern cross shines brightly,
kangaroo and koala crossing signs warning,

be aware.

a snake ahead,  a black yellow bellied,
we watch our steps,
less sky gazing,
tracks cross the path as we go up, then down, more tracks,
kangaroo, she tells me, like deer, I think,

take notice.

they are near, I feel, perhaps I smell,
a musky scent, no skunks here,
bird song calls me up, a branch or snake what
is below my feet,  the vista grand surrounding me,
till sea breeze wrap us tight,  my eyes no longer see,
the rock pool swimmer or sword snorkelling fishers.

Change surrounds me,

through this hike,
this time, my life,
60 years have passed,

I noticed some

mid shadows,
 light,
the coming and the leaving haze
of day and night,
awareness grows.
